LQ: How do adverts persuade people to buy their products?

Starter: Slide 4

  1. What is the advert selling? deodrant

  2. How has the advert used Language (Colour, words, typography) to present the product?they have used dark colors and telling the use of it and was it helps

  3. How has the advert used Representation (who is in the advert? What clues does this give you about the audience of the advert)? Itsa girl whos modeling for the advert


Activation:

  1. Slides 8-20 contain print advertisements.

  2. Label which need is being targeted by each advertisement.

  3. Explain how the advert has used Language and Representation to target the need. 

Slide 8=its like a cream egg so its like goo and smily so they used a tap head to explain how it is like

Slide 9=this is a barclay card to show that u no longer need to enter pin and just tap contactless.not bumpy like a slide

Slide 10=advertising ikea to show everything is budget friendly and easy to shop and make.

slide11=the iphone 4 advertisement says to like get a new phone like its anew life and has good features and it changes everything as its the new releasing phone.

Slide 12=volvo one shows the latest car and the new features on the carto make and persuade you to buy.

Slider 13=swarovski advertises watches

Slide 14=best water for sports and 

Slides 15=going on a holiday cruise for the cheapest price available.

Slider 16=best soap that is good for the environment especially birds

Slide 17=make up brand rimmels best mascara very black

Slide 18=a dress brand called mango

Slide19=lynx spray.

Slide 20=m&s best turkey sold .




















Demonstration:

Find an advert online and copy and paste it into this document. Which of the ‘needs’ below does the advert suggest that the product/service can solve?

  • Need to survive – food    






  • Need to feel safe – insurance, loans






  • Need for friendship – help us be popular





  • Need to nurture – cute and cuddly




  • Need to achieve – help us succeed






  • Need for attention – help us get noticed





  • Need for prominence – show off our social status









  • Need to dominate – to gain control









  • Need to find meaning in life – fulfil our dreams

Extension:

Choose one of the adverts you have seen today on the presentation or the one you have chosen. Remake the advert on photoshop. Explain the choices you have made based on the need that the advert claims to satisfy.
